Below are a few key aspects of the ministry:
Community Outreach: We had our first community potluck at our hosted family with quite a few seniors from the neighbourhood. We also visited Pastor Zhang’s family in Brantford. Pastor Zhang and his wife Christina gave us great input about our university student outreach strategy.
We pray to God that He can lead us in finding ways to connect with the community and find more willing souls to connect with God. Music is a very important part of worship. We are trying different songs and also engaging youths from Hamilton and Brantford in future piano accompaniment. This may also provide a new opportunity to connect with more faith seeking families. We also notice that the gaps of public education leave parents anxious of how to support their kids’ learning, especially in Brantford. This may also be something we can consider when we develop our outreach strategies.
Worship Venue: The previous places we visited were not a good fit. We continued to visit other places but due to summer vacations, we were not able to meet those in charge, but have scheduled meetings. We are expecting to start Sunday afternoon worship services from sometime in October. We will entrust this to God for the best timing and place.
Prayer Meeting: joined Wednesday evening prayer meeting with HGMAC online
Bible Study: weekly Bible studies in the hosting family are being stabilized with moderate growing attendance.
Children Program: Rebecca Xu and Yan Du participated in Children’s Sunday School teacher training on August 10 and August 17. We adjusted the children program to start with Bible story then homework support at Saturday Bible study meetings, and will continue to explore the possible structure for future children program on Sunday afternoons.
Support Request: While we are looking forward to starting Sunday afternoon worship service from coming October, we see the needs of more human and financial resources. We are praying for more brothers & sisters from both churches to help out children program, singspiration, ushers, and other duties of worship services.
